Where: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
Why: Despite recent cutbacks, Cleveland in some cases still has some lower fares and a wider choice of nonstop flights.

How far: 134.9 miles or roughly 2 1/2-hour drive from Downtown Pittsburgh.
What it's like: This linear airport is not nearly as bright and airy as Pittsburgh International Airport, nor does it have as wide a selection of shops or restaurants. But Cleveland ticket agents and other airport personnel say they see a "ton" of Pittsburghers using the airport. You can find maps, parking info and other details at www.clevelandairport.com.
Fun factor: Flying is no longer fun, but Cleveland's cheery staff (at least the day I was there), its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame airport stores and the sight of security cops zipping down its corridors on Segways added a little joy to the experience.
