An Armstrong County woman was killed yesterday when she lost control of the car she was driving and struck an embankment on Route 66 at Garvers Ferry Road in Parks.

Susan Lynn Miller, 43, of Vandergrift, was heading north on Route 66 about 5:50 p.m., when she crossed the center line, drove across the southbound lane and struck the embankment, according to the Armstrong County coroner's office.

Ms. Miller was thrown from the vehicle and died instantly of blunt force trauma to the head. She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, the coroner's office said. Two passengers traveling with her were taken to hospitals for treatment, but their conditions were unknown.
