Storm causes power outages in region

A strong storm system that moved through Western Pennsylvania tonight flooded some streets and intersections, ripped branches from trees, and caused power outages, affecting thousands of residents.

Duquesne Light spokesman Joseph Vallarian said that at 10 p.m. there were 8,100 customers without service. The largest concentration of outages involved 2,250 customers in Richland , 950 customers in West Mifflin and 750 customers in North Braddock.

The National Weather Service reported trees down in Carnegie, Aliquippa, Beaver and McKeesport. Trees and wires were down in Franklin Park.
