Kennywood Park officials are demanding that three state legislators apologize or be censured for comments made on the House floor Monday about the new Spanish owners of the famous amusement park.

Peter J. McAneny, Kennywood Entertainment president, accused Democratic Reps. David Levdansky of Forward, Tony DeLuca of Penn Hills and Bill Kortz of Dravosburg of making "outrageous comments and untruths" during debate on a bill to eliminate the amusement tax on amusement parks.

"All three referred disparagingly to the new Spanish ownership of Kennywood Entertainment as a reason not to support" the bill, he said. They "deserve a censure, reprimand or a public apology to the entire state Legislature for their unprofessional and embarrassing behavior."

The only thing he had done, Mr. Levdansky said, was to hold up a newspaper article from 2004 when Spain, which he called "that ally of ours," withdrew its troops from the Iraq war.

Kennywood claims West Mifflin unfairly charges the tax on the amusement park but not on other activities such as golf courses.
