Pirates: They aren't the Yankees. They're better. Really. The up-and-coming Tampa Bay Rays, second in the AL East, are at PNC Park for the second of a three-game set.
Did you know: Yes, Tampa's rookie third baseman really is named Evan Longoria. And yes, he can hit. His 11 homers are third among rookies this season. But no, he is not related to the "Desperate Housewives" star of nearly the same name.

U.S. Women's Open: Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa & Co. will be hard-pressed to repeat the dramatics of the men's Open, but they will try as the women's national championship goes to its final 18 holes at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn.
Did you know: The club was an integral part of the Grand Slam as it hosted the 1930 U.S. Open won by Bobby Jones. who also won the U.S. Amateur, British Open and British Amateur that year.
