The Pittsburgh Parking Authority expects to have its long-awaited, 1,050-space Grant Street Transportation Center parking garage and bus station completed by the end of next month and has scheduled a dedication ceremony for Aug. 19, officials announced yesterday.
The authority's board voted to free up $4.5 million to pay the final bills related to the center. That will bring the total cost to $52.5 million, which authority Executive Director David Onorato called "a little high" compared with initial estimates.
The center is at Liberty Avenue and 11th Street, Downtown, the once-and-future site of the Greyhound Lines Inc. station. A Greyhound spokesman said the firm hopes to open its part of the facility in early August.
