Pittsburgh schools ratify paraprofessional, technical-clerical contracts
Thursday, June 19, 2008

The Pittsburgh school board last night unanimously ratified contracts with about 700 paraprofessionals and about 60 technical-clerical employees.

The contracts will run from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2010. The contracts give workers 3 percent annual raises, with the first increases retroactive to April 1.

The agreements hold the line on health care through 2009. In 2010, workers can pay more to stay with the plan they have now, or they can switch to aother plan and keep their premium contributions the same as now.

The workers, membmers of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, ratified the agreements June 11.
