Pirates sign six more draft picks

The Pirates today signed six more draft picks, all from the late rounds, to raise their total of signed picks to nine.

The ones signed today are 33rd-round catcher Mark Carver of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, 34th-round third baseman Matthew Payne of North Carolina State University, 38th-round right-handed reliever Allan Knotts of Louisiana Tech, 44th-round left-handed starter Michael Williams of Mount Olive College, 45th-round first baseman Allen Ponder of Auburn University-Montgomery, and 49th-round right-handed starter Zachary Foster of Pitt-Bradford.

Foster, who attended Bradford High School, was 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 10 appearances as a junior at Pitt-Bradford.
