SPECIAL NOTES
Work zone alert -- State police issued more than 300 citations last month during a crackdown in the seven-mile Interstate 79 construction zone between Neville Island and the I-279 Junction in Franklin Park. Those were in addition to 75 speeding citations issued there over the Memorial Day weekend.
New Stanton ribbon-cutting -- Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to cut ribbon on $13.6 million Route 119 interchange serving Westmoreland Technology Park and intermodal truck-rail freight terminal.
INTERSTATES
I-70, Washington County -- Resurfacing westbound lanes, 6 p.m.-6 a.m. weekdays, between north and south junctions of I-79.
I-79, Allegheny County -- Traffic maintained in both directions on the northbound lanes over the 6.6-mile reconstruction zone between the Ohio River and I-279 Junction, Franklin Park. I-79 south ramp to Route 65 will remain closed through June 26.
Far right lane on I-79 north at Bridgeville Interchange closed through mid-July for work on new acceleration ramp from Route 50. Two northbound lanes open.
I-79, Greene County -- Milling and resurfacing to be done in three locations, starting soon, about 3.5 miles total, to restore roadway damaged by subsidence due to longwall mining.
I-279 to North Hills -- HOV lanes closed for Phase 1 of $11.3 million, 8-mile project between East Ohio Street and Camp Horne Road interchange.
I-376/Parkway East -- All lanes closed inbound this weekend from Churchill Interchange to Edgewood-Swissvale Interchange. The restrictions are to be lifted no later than 5 a.m. tomorrow.
I-579, Downtown -- All Seventh Avenue ramps on I-579/Crosstown Boulevard closed until up to 5 a.m. tomorrow for ongoing rehabilitation work.
STATE HIGHWAYS
Route 28, Allegheny Valley -- Around-the-clock, single-lane traffic restrictions have been lifted from Route 910 northbound to Pittsburgh Mills Mall between 3 and 7 p.m. weekdays. Southbound, no lane closures permitted between 5 and 9 a.m. Some Saturday morning stoppages in Harmar for blasting.
Route 28, Etna -- PennDOT to begin reconstruction on the northbound side next month. A series of ramp and mainline closings will be announced. Initially, traffic will be minimally impacted.
Route 65, North Shore -- Ramp from Route 65 South that was to have been closed Tuesday was postponed to a later date as well as other highway work related to construction of the Majestic Star Casino and parking garage.
OTHER ROADS
Boulevard of the Allies, Oakland -- Closed outbound east of Parkway East entrance for interchange work. Forbes Avenue a single lane into Oakland.
Canon-McMillan Bridge -- Span carrying Route 1035 over I-79 is to be closed Wednesday for repairs and road work between Elm Street and Canon-McMillan High School Drive, North Strabane. Detour will be posted.
Chateau Street, Manchester -- Restrictions 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily while PennDOT repairs street between Faulsey Way and Nixon Street.
Fifth Avenue, East Liberty -- Reduced to a single lane 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays, starting tomorrow, in the area of the railroad underpass between McPherson Boulevard and Kelly Street, part of the $3.1 million improvement project covering 1.2 miles of Fifth Avenue/Route 8 and Penn Avenue.
Marshall Avenue, North Side -- Lane closures at times 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through late August for milling, paving, repairs between California Avenue and Brighton Road.
Nicholson Road, Ohio Township -- Single, 11-foot-wide lanes will use road shoulders in both direction starting tomorrow to maintain traffic while PennDOT rehabilitates bridge crossing I-79.
Parkway Center, Green Tree -- Ramp from Parkway Center Drive to the Parkway West/I-279 inbound is one lane 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily through rest of month for expansion dam repairs. Also, bridge carrying Green Tree Road over parkway will require overnight, weekend restrictions starting Thursday night for painting, repairs through September.
South Main Street, West End -- Block-long stretch that's also Route 60 closed for roadway relocation and to build new bridge to Steuben Street. Posted detours use Alexander and Dumas streets.
MAJOR BRIDGES
Birmingham Bridge -- One lane maintained in both directions on the southbound side. PennDOT began replacing rocker bearings on the northbound side last week.
Fort Pitt Bridge -- Lane closures, sometimes at night, sometimes mornings, on select Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through July 26 while engineers do an in-depth inspection.
62nd Street Bridge -- Closed southbound through June for first phase of preservation project. Northbound open.
PORT AUTHORITY
June schedules -- Timetables for all bus, rail routes reflecting quarterly changes that begin next Sunday available on the Web at www.portauthority.org. Printed schedules with black and white cover indicate new timetable.
St. Anne's park-n-ride -- Closed tomorrow through Saturday for the parish's annual carnival on the church grounds in Castle Shannon. T customers advised to use other facilities or the pay garage at South Hills Village.
