Pitt basketball assistant coach Orlando Antigua has left the Panthers for a job at Memphis under John Calipari, and Pitt coach Jamie Dixon has promoted Brandin Knight to replace him.
Antigua, a former Pitt player and an assistant since 2003, is filling one of two vacant assistant coaching positions at Memphis. He was a player at Pitt from 1991-95 and spent the past two seasons as a full-time assistant coach after three years as director of basketball opeartions.
This is Knight's first full-time coaching position. He was Pitt's video coordinator during the 2006-07 season and spent last season as director of operations.
"I always said when he was a player he was a coach on the floor," Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said tonight from Hawaii, where he is vacationing with his family. "And if you talk to our administrative people they've been very impressed with him the past few years as well. The timing is good. He's more than ready."
