Country WDSY-FM (107.9) is offering a local unsigned country band or artist the chance to open for Kenny Chesney on June 14 at Heinz Field.
Ten finalists have been chosen. Listeners can hear what they sound like on WDSY at 9 p.m. Sunday in a special hosted by afternoon host Stoney Richards. Listeners can cast their votes on the Y108 Web site, Y108.com. The deadline for voting is Monday at noon.
Four finalists will be announced at 5 p.m. Monday during Richards' show, and will perform next Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe. The winner opens for Chesney, and also gets a shot at a $25,000 grand prize, an audition with Sony/BMG and a chance to open for Chesney on the closing night of his tour.
The other three finalists also will get to play at the show in the Y108 Tiki Town area at Heinz Field's Gate B. (Adrian McCoy, Post-Gazette staff writer)
