Safety dismissed from WVU football team
Wednesday, June 04, 2008

Senior Charles Pugh, a projected starter at safety this season, was dismissed today from the West Virginia Mountaineers football team for what Coach Bill Stewart said in a news release was a violation of team rules.

Pugh was expected to surrender to authorities this afternoon after being notified that university and Monongalia County police were bringing felony charges against him for the theft of debit and credit cards last week from a car parked at the Mountainlair garage.

Pugh, from Orlando, Fla., had 39 tackles and three sacks in three seasons with the Mountaineers.

He became the fourth Mountaineers player -- including the third potential defensive starter for the 2008 season -- to be dismissed by the new coach since February.
