Children's Hospital ranked higher in magazine survey
Saturday, May 31, 2008

UPMC Children's Hospital has moved up to 10th of 113 participating hospitals in the 2008 survey by U.S. News & World Report. Last year, the hospital was ranked 13th in the magazine's "America's Best Children's Hospitals" edition.

Last year, for the first time, the top 30 pediatric facilities were ranked using death rates, information about technology, other data supplied by hospitals and a survey of board-certified pediatricians.

This year, the top 30 were ranked in six specialties -- cancer, digestive disorders, heart and heart surgery, neonatal care, neurology and neurosurgery, respiratory disorders and general pediatrics.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was ranked first. The report on the rankings is online at health.usnews.com.
