A Butler County teen was killed and another driver was injured in a traffic accident yesterday morning in Clearfield Township, state police in Butler said.

Alia Fae Hackbarth, 18, of Chicora, had been driving south on Moran Road when she came to a stop sign at 8:20 a.m. before she attempted to cross Route 422, which has no stop signs at the intersection, state police said.

As Ms. Hackbarth's 1994 Mazda entered the intersection is was struck by a westbound SUV on Route 422.

Jerry E. Gaiser, 57, of Worthington, who was driving the SUV, suffered moderate injuries, police said.

Ms. Hackbarth's car was struck on the driver's side door. The impact forced her vehicle onto eastbound lanes of Route 422.

She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and transferred to Allegheny General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
