Springdale
The past week: Just a sophomore, Sarsfield followed up her WPIAL Class AA 400-meter title by winning PIAA gold in the event at the state championships at Shippensburg University.
Check this out: Sarsfield became the first female in school history to win a gold medal at the PIAA track and field championships. She also helped lead the Dynamos to the WPIAL championship game in soccer.
You didn't run well in the PIAA meet as a freshman, how much did you learn from that? When I was a freshman, I kind of looked up into the stands and looked at all the other competitors and said, 'Wow' and was kind of wondering if I was good enough.
Did you run a perfect race in the finals? You practically have to if you want to get first place. With all the athletes here, every single one of them is absolutely amazing.
Will this track success change your soccer outlook? It might a little bit, but I have been playing soccer since I was little and there is no way I would quit now.
So, you use both sports in unison, kind of? Yes, it is such great endurance training in soccer. I play midfield in soccer and the endurance I gain running up and down the field so many times for, like, 80 minutes straight, is incredible. Coming here, the sport of soccer has made such a huge impact on my track career and helped me so much.

West Allegheny
The past week: Zeroski had a double, scored a run and made several nice defensive plays at shortstop in West Allegheny's 4-1 victory against Trinity Tuesday in the WPIAL Class AAA championship. In a 5-3 semifinal victory against Blackhawk last Wednesday, he was the winning pitcher, struck out 13 and had two RBIs.
Check this out: Zeroski, a 6-foot, 160-pound senior, is a three-sport athlete. He played receiver on the football team. In basketball, he was the second-leading scorer in the WPIAL with a 23.4 average.
Never mind your future. What sport do you have the most fun playing? For me, it's basketball. I just feel that's my best sport.
You have a very strong arm. Any secrets? A lot of long tossing has helped me. I do that as much as I can.
If you could go to any championship event in any sport, where would you go? Definitely the Final Four. I love college basketball.
Who won the Indy 500 this week? I have no clue.
The most famous person you ever met? Probably Jim Leyland [Detroit Tigers manager]. I've played baseball with his son.
You've already had your prom. Anything you would do different with it? I'd probably stay the whole time. I left early.
