GETout spotlight

June 1 is Children's Fishing Rodeo

To understand and appreciate the natural world, children need to build on a series of outdoors successes. The Marienville Rod and Gun Club, Fish and Boat Commission, Cook Forest Vacation Bureau and Cook Forest State Park offer such an opportunity at a Children's Fishing Rodeo at Cook Forest State Park. From 1-3 p.m. kids 12 and under can fish for freshly stocked trout in Tom's Run from the Swinging Bridge to the Children's Fishing Pond behind the park office. Prizes donated by local merchants. Held on one of Pennsylvania's fish-for-free days, adults can help without fishing licenses. Catches aren't guaranteed, but it's a great opportunity for a positive outdoors experience. 814-744-8407, cookforestsp@state.pa.us.
