Friday, May 23, 2008

Two current and one former singer in the Pittsburgh Opera Center completed a sweep of the top prizes in the Jensen Foundation Voice Competition last week in New York City.

NaGuanda Nobles, a lyric soprano who graduated from the Opera training program last year, won first place. That entailed a prize of $15,000 and a contract with Opera Carolina.

Second place went to current resident artist Jonathan Beyer, a baritone, with a $10,000 prize.

Coloratura soprano Audrey Elizabeth Luna took third place and its $5,000 award.
