ENTERTAINMENT


Butler -- The Blazing Star Choral Society will perform R. Vaughn Williams' "Dona Nobis Pacem" and a selection of spirituals at 7 p.m. today at First Methodist Church, McKean Street. Tickets are $10. Call 724-282-0660.

Marshall -- Local rock band No Excuse will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Elias Fry Barn, Knob Hill Park. Free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Prospect -- Live music will be performed during the North Country Bluegrass Benefit, a 2 1/2-day music festival, next weekend at the picnic area in Moraine State Park, across from the South Shore Beach. Bands will include Mon River Ramblers, The Reckharts, Crystal Springs, Grover and The Night Hawks and others. Music begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday and continues all day Saturday and next Sunday until midafternoon. Tickets are $15 for a three-day pass, $10 for Saturday only and $5 for Friday or Sunday. Camping permitted and available on first-come, first-served basis at $25 for two nights or $15 for one night. Call 724-443-1222 for reservations. FUND-RAISERS


Richland -- Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3832 Gibsonia Road, will hold a recital at 7 p.m. today. A dessertery will be held at 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted to benefit the church parking lot repair. Call 724-443-8110.

Richland/West Deer -- St. Barnabas Charitable Foundation will hold a Pennies for Patients poker run and car cruise starting at 9 a.m. today at the ball field at St. Barnabas on Meridian Road. Participants will collect playing cards at five stops along a 27-mile route. Winning hands will receive prizes at the last stop, La Casa Narcisi Winery, Route 910, West Deer. Car cruise, entertainment and refreshments available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the winery. Registration fee is $10 a hand. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.

GARDENING


Richland -- Northern Tier Library will hold a plant and garden sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the library parking lot, 4015 Dickey Road. The sale of herbs, annuals, hanging baskets and more will benefit the library. The library will hold a garden party at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Attendees are asked to bring three perennials. GOLF OUTINGS


West View -- The Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce golf outing will be held June 6 at Highland Country Club, 450 Highland Ave. Registration and lunch at 11 a.m. Shotgun start, scramble format, at 12:30 p.m. Cash bar and dinner at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $140 per person, $520 for foursomes. Mars -- Donations for the Mars Area Public Library's summer used-book sale are now being accepted. Needed are hardbacks, paperbacks, children's books, audio books, movies and music CDs. Marshall -- UPMC Children's Hospital will hold a seminar, Alone at Home, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building, lower level, 525 Pleasant Hill Road. Children ages 10 and older, with their parents, will explore emotional readiness, appropriate behaviors and a family safety plan for children home alone. Fee is $12 for residents, $14 for others.
