UPMC chief's compensation rises 19%

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Romoff collected almost $3.95 million in compensation during fiscal 2007, up 19 percent from the year before.

Mr. Romoff also received pension plan contribuitions of $41,968 and an additional $20,380 for taxable expenses such as a car allowance, spousal travel, and legal and financial counseling.

The nonprofit UPMC disclosed the amounts today in its annual filing with the Internal Revenue Service.
