Per popular request, Mike Lange's goal calls from Game 2:
THE KING
At some point in your life, it's possible described the four grown men in that photo, Mario Lemieux, John Smoltz, Ben Roethlisberger or Pierre Larouche, as your hero.
You probably should divert some of your attention to the young man in the middle.
His name is John Challis. He's dying from cancer but at the same time, he's living whatever life he has left.
The Post-Gazette's Mike White has done a marvelous job of chronicling Challis' horrible but inspiring story.
Challis and his family got to attend last night's game as guests of the Penguins. He even got to hold court with Lemieux, Roethlisberger, and Dan Rooney. You can watch the video here. After the meeting, he said he felt like one of the Kings of the City.
STILL IN THE GARAGE
Remember when Mario Lemieux called the NHL a garage league? Stuff like this is why.
The NHL did not suspend Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood or Stars forward Mike Ribeiro for their roles in what was essentially a stick fight at the end of Game 2. Both players, along with Stars forward Steve Ott, were merely fined.
It shouldn't matter if neither player were injured on the play. The intent was there. It shouldn't matter the players' star power or the weight of the games. If that Krys Barch and Brett Lebda going at it in November, they're both suspended for five games at least.
The NHL has made numerous strides in many areas since the lockout but very little has been done in the way of discipline.
