• The Lucky Paws Pet Resort, 2273 Lovi Road, near Cranberry, is opening a water park for pooches, equipped with a "zero-entry" 2,800-square-foot swimming pool for dogs. The pool has a water-shooting hydrant and misting hoops. A grand opening will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday. There will be free admission for tours, activities and giveaways.

Local humane societies will attend with dogs available to be adopted.

The resort provides overnight accommodations for pets. Amenities include indoor luxury suites with heated ceramic floors, air conditioning, cable TV, sound systems and elevated beds. Lucky Paws also offers traditional runs for dogs and a giant indoor cat house. The cat house covers 120 square feet and includes cable TV, a fish tank in the living room and heated hardwood floors. Massages, herbal treatments and grooming options also are available.

• Glade Run Lutheran Services has received a $25,000 grant from The Grable Foundation to apply toward technology upgrades for St. Stephen's Lutheran Academy.

The Grable Foundation's mission is to help children and youth become independent, caring, contributing members of society by supporting programs critical to their successful development.

Glade Run Lutheran Services, a nonprofit agency, has a main campus in Zelienople, with satellite offices in Butler, Pittsburgh and Beaver Falls. The academy is Glade Run's private, licensed school that provides educational and support services to more than 400 at-risk youth.

• Seeds of Hope, an annual fund-raiser benefiting Lifesteps Family Caring Fund, raised a gross total of more than $500 to benefit Lifesteps Family Caring Fund. Businesses participated by selling paper $1 Seeds of Hope cards to customers, with many putting the items on display at their establishments. Nine Butler County businesses and groups participated in the annual event.

Lifesteps, a local nonprofit agency, offers family-focused services in a caring, nurturing environment to Western Pennsylvania communities. Services include free developmental screenings for children to age 5, developmental preschool, a medically monitored day program for older adults, and programs and services for adults with mental retardation.

• Butler Memorial Hospital has received recognition for its pneumonia vaccination initiative from The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. Sixteen winners were selected from 100 entries.

Each year, the association honors creativity and commitment to patient care through achievement awards.

Butler Memorial was recognized in the patient care category.
