Tennis: Allderdice duo earns City crown; USC snares Class AAA title

Upper St. Clair's Ethan Kallick powers through a shot during a number two singles match-up against Josh Ferraccio of Shadyside Academy during the WPIAL Class AAA tennis championships at the Lakevue Racquet Club in Valencia yesterday.

The Allderdice tandem of Arjun Iyengar and Henry Netzer captured the City League boys' doubles title yesterday, defeating another Allderdice duo -- Jake Rubenstein and Jake Furman -- 6-3, 6-1 at the Pittsburgh Indoor Tennis Club in East Liberty.

By virtue of the win, Iyengar and Netzer advance to the PIAA tennis championship May 23-24 at the Hershey Racquet Club.

WPIAL team championship

• Upper St. Clair captured the WPIAL Class AAA boys' team tennis championship with a 3-2 victory against Shady Side Academy yesterday at the Lakeview Racquet Club. Ethan Kallick and Scott Yanak earned singles wins, while the team of Ryan Pearson and Harris Tucker won their doubles match.

In Class AA at the same venue, Sewickley Academy dominated, as the Panthers cruised to a 5-0 win against Mount Pleasant
