Once again, a House-Senate conference committee has postponed action on legislation that will determine which workplaces and public places must be smoke-free and which ones will continue to permit smoking.

The panel met briefly yesterday but said a compromise bill on the subject of smoking wasn't ready. It then recessed until Monday.
