Air show advisory

Airport area residents should prepare for loud aircraft noises and plenty of traffic this weekend during the eighth Wings Over Pittsburgh air show hosted by the 911th Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve in Moon.

The free show, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Air Force Reserve Command, honor the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift and celebrate the 250th anniversary of Pittsburgh.

Also, there will be a salute to mothers on Mother's Day.

This year's premier performer will be Canadian Forces Snowbirds who will be making their first appearance in the show. They are the only jet team in North America to perform with nine jets flying in close formation.

And, there will be a demonstration by the F-22 Raptor, the Air Force's newest fighter aircraft, and two of the three major military jump teams will perform.

The gates will close at 3 o'clock both days. Coolers and bags, except diaper and camera bags, are prohibited. Strollers, wagons and folding chairs are permitted.

For information or a list of performers, visit wingsoverpittsburgh.com. or call 412-474-8501.
