Reds 5, Cubs 3: Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer deep into the seats in right field, and rookie Johnny Cueto got back to hitting the corners with his 95 mph fastball, leading Cincinnati to a slump-busting victory against Chicago at Great American Ball Park. The Reds ended a five-game losing streak by taking advantage of two errors that set up five unearned runs off Ryan Dempster (4-1), who lost for the first time since switching from closer to starter.
Cardinals 6, Rockies 5: Albert Pujols scored from second base on a groundout in the ninth inning to lift St. Louis past Colorado at Coors Field. After a one-out double to right, Pujols took off on contact as Rick Ankiel grounded out to second baseman Jonathan Herrera, who never glanced at Pujols before lofting a throw to Todd Helton at first. Pujols turned on the speed after rounding third and slid just out of the reach of Yorvit Torrealba, who lunged forward in an effort to tag him. Randy Flores (1-0) earned the win after working out of a jam in the eighth, and Jason Isringhausen pitched ninth for his 11th save in 14 chances.
Dodgers 5, Mets 1: Rafael Furcal hit a leadoff homer against beleaguered Oliver Perez, Blake DeWitt hit his first home run in the major leagues and surging Los Angeles beat visiting New York. Matt Kemp also homered for the Dodgers, who won for the ninth time in 10 games.
Phillies 11, Diamondbacks 4: Jamie Moyer pitched seven strong innings and had an RBI double as visiting Philadelphia routed Arizona in a matchup of division leaders.

Blue Jays 1, White Sox 0: Dustin McGowan outpitched Javier Vazquez in an entertaining duel, and Matt Stairs homered to help Toronto beat slumping Chicago for a four-game sweep at the Rogers Centre. Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan walked the bases loaded in the ninth inning but got Pablo Ozuna to ground into a 1-2-3 double play to end the game, earning his fifth save.
Angels 4, Royals 0: Ervin Santana extended his outstanding start by pitching a four-hitter, and Garret Anderson and Brandon Wood hit consecutive homers in a four-run ninth inning to lead visiting Los Angeles past Kansas City. Santana joined teammate Joe Saunders at 6-0, becoming the third and fourth Angels pitchers to open a season 6-0 or better. Saunders and Santana are just the eighth pair of teammates to start a season 6-0 since 1920. Santana gave up just four hits, striking out nine without a walk.
Red Sox 6, Tigers 3: Mike Lowell hit one of Boston's three homers for his first RBIs this season, as the Red Sox beat Detroit at Comerica Park behind a wild Daisuke Matsuzaka. Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz also connected for Boston, which won its fourth game in a row and sent the Tigers to their fourth consecutive defeat. Matsuzaka (5-0) won despite walking a career-worst eight batters in five innings, which also tied the major league high for walks this season.
Mariners 7, Rangers 3: Wladimir Balentien and Richie Sexson homered to back starter Jarrod Washburn as host Seattle beat Texas to end a five-game losing streak.
