NFL Notebook: Redskins pick goes missing at minicamp
Monday, May 05, 2008

Washington Redskins second-round draft pick Fred Davis from Southern California did not show up for minicamp practice yesterday in Ashburn, Texas, having overslept on just his third day in the NFL. The team sent security officials to track down the tight end after he failed to arrive as scheduled from a local hotel, where the rookies were housed for the three-day minicamp.

"Everybody was scouring," coach Jim Zorn said after the practice. "Nobody heard from him, so there was one of two scenarios: Either there was some real trouble and we needed to find him, or he screwed up."

Davis, who was the 48th overall pick in the draft, eventually arrived at Redskins Park and met with Zorn in his office.

Bears

Running back Cedric Benson was charged with failing a sobriety test while operating a 30-foot boat, then resisting arrest before being hit with pepper spray and dragged ashore by officers near Austin, Texas.

Cowboys

A 30-acre spread owned by suspended cornerback Adam "Pac-Man" Jones was put on the market for $1.8 million by a real estate agent. The property, located in a Nashville, Tenn., suburb, features a two-acre lake stocked with fish.
