Tons of rock fall in a dusty heap from the slide-prone hillside above Route 28 in Harmar yesterday morning following a controlled detonation.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the work had been scheduled for last week but was put on hold until yesterday because of inclement weather and site-preparation work.
Unlike a blast last month that was a little too powerful, yesterday's demolition didn't cover Route 28 or nearby Freeport Road with rock debris.
Traffic yesterday was held up for just a few minutes before and after the blast.
