Reality TV: Big Baller takes 'Big Brother'
Friday, May 02, 2008

Big Baller is $500,000 richer. Congratulations to Adam, winner of CBS' "Big Brother 9." The 29-year-old public relations manager from Cherry Hill, N.J., beat his bromance pal and ally, Ryan, in a 6 to 1 vote on Sunday's finale. Sure, Adam told a few fibs, broke some promises and shed a few tears during the game, but he was a perfect player and I'm so happy one of my favorite contestants won. Plus, Adam's promised to donate $100,000 of his winnings to the United Autism Foundation's afterschool program and has apologized for using the word "retards" on national television.

I experience serious reality TV withdrawal when "Big Brother" goes off the air. I already miss Adam, Sheila and even wacky Natalie! Good thing "Big Brother 10" returns to its usual summer spot on July 13.

Bye, bye Brooke White. The sweet, 24-year-old Mesa, Ariz., nanny is eliminated on this week's "American Idol" during Neil Diamond week. She's in the bottom two with Syesha Mercado -- the last woman standing. I can't believe Jason Castro and his unruly dreadlocks aren't in the bottom two! I hope he doesn't make final three over Syesha. And as crazy as judge Paula Abdul is this week, she has it right when she tells David Cook: "I feel like I'm already looking at the American Idol."

"Idol" airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 p.m. on Fox.

In spite of his drama and antics on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp," Dustin Diamond, aka "Saved By the Bell's" Screech, is part of the winning Blue Team on Sunday's season finale. Along with actress Tina Yothers, comedian Sommore and former "American Idol" host Brian Dunkelman, Screech wins $150,000 in cash and prizes when his team earns a "Fit Factor" score of 101.8 -- thanks to a five-point bonus from the obstacle course round -- over the Red Team's 100.4. A scandalous finish? Indeed. But at least the season's biggest loser, actor Willie Aames, who shed 26 pounds and gained a "Fit Club" tattoo of drill sergeant Harvey Walden, wins $30,000 in prizes for his efforts. Jeers to actress Erin Moran who loses a measly 3 pounds and admits she did the show for the money.

Channel surfing

On "Dancing with the Stars," my favorite footballer, former Pittsburgher Jason Taylor, rules the dance floor with an exciting quickstep and a riveting, "Monday Night Football"-theme paso doble. With a score of 55, he edges out favorite, Olympic ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi, by one point this week. Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (score: 52) is in the bottom two with eliminated actress Shannon Elizabeth (score: 51), while injured actor, Cristian de la Fuente amazingly moves on despite his low 46. Tuesday's results show is a riot with ESPN's Kenny Mayne's "DanceCenter" spoof. And who knew ballroom dancers could look so good while twirling around to Def Leppard?

"Dancing with the Stars" airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC.

On "Flavor of Love," Flav stupidly listens to conniving Sinceer when she says Thing 2 can't handle the competition on her own, so he dumps the latter, even though Sinceer's drunk dad makes a fool of himself at dinner. Seezinz, Black and Sinceer remain. Remember, Flav said weeks ago he was shooting for classy this season, so I'm rooting for Seezinz.

"Flavor of Love 3" airs Monday at 9 p.m. on VH1.

Crybaby of the Week

... is ousted bachelorette, Amanda, on "The Bachelor: London Calling." When Matt dumps her in Barbados, she bravely tells him she believes nothing he's said and calls him a name so bad it has to be bleeped out. Too bad once she gets in the dreaded limo, she bursts into tears. "I really thought I was, like, falling for him. I really thought we were going to get married," she sobs. Surprisingly, her typical hiccups aren't part of her sad departure. Boring Chelsea and actress/Lorenzo Lamas' daughter, Shayne, are the final two. I'm rooting for Ms. Blondie Lamas, of course!

"The Bachelor: The Women Tell All" airs Monday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
