Tuesday, April 22, 2008

A state constable shot outside a Homewood bar over the weekend died yesterday, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office.

Aaron Jenkins, 37, of East Hills, was pronounced dead at around 5:30 p.m. in UPMC Presbyterian. Mr. Jenkins and another state constable were shot early Saturday morning outside Club 22/Rendezvous on the 7700 block of Hamilton Avenue.

Mr. Jenkins and the other constable, a 24-year-old from Penn Hills, were socializing at the bar when their attacker fired from a parking lot on the other side of the street, where shell casings were found, police said.

Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition. An autopsy will be performed on Mr. Jenkins today.
