WQED-FM (89.3) is marking Passover, along with Holocaust Remembrance Days, with a series of specials, starting Sunday.
Sunday's "Sacred Classics" features the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra with the Ernst Senff Choir performing selections from Hallel Service by Israeli composer Yehezkel Braun. The program airs from 7 to 10 a.m.
"World Class" -- Israel in Egypt, Handel's Passover oratorio, performed by the Monteverdi Orchestra and Chorus (Sunday from 7 to 10 p.m.).
The Western Wind's Passover Story -- The Western Wind Vocal ensemble, with narrator Theodore Bikel (Monday at 9 p.m.).
"The Joy of Prayer" -- Martin Kalmanoff's Friday evening and Saturday morning Sabbath Service music, with baritone Sherrill Milnes as cantor (April 24 at 8:45 p.m.).
"A Voice for the Silenced" -- Singer Ela Weissberger, a survivor of the Terezin concentration camp in Czechoslovakia, joins host Monika Vischer and conductor James Conlan (April 30 at 9 p.m.).
Music of Remembrance: Brundibar -- Hans Krasa's "Brundibar," an opera composed at the Terezin concentration camp (May 1 at 9 p.m.).
