In the early 20th century, Tudor and Craftsman architectural styles were popular in America. Builders sometimes combined the two, as in this house at 214 Edgewood Ave., Trafford (MLS. No. 717341).

The tan brick house, which is on the market for $118,000 through Top Flite Real Estate in Monroeville, was built in 1928 and retains all of its original dark-stained woodwork, including French doors that lead from the front hall to the living room.

Another highlight is five religious-themed wall paintings in the living room, dining room, kitchen and two of the four bedrooms. The current owner believes they were done by traveling artist Gustave Fisher in the 1930s, says Realtor Terry Segelson (412-527-2429).

At 15 by 13 feet, the dining room is the biggest room on the first floor. An arched window connects it with the adjacent den and breakfast nook, which is lit by old glassblock windows. The 12-by-9-foot kitchen has a newer stove and refrigerator (included) and some old glass-doored cabinets.

Five other houses have sold in the 200 block of Edgewood Avenue since 2004, ranging in price from $30,901 in July 2004 to $97,900 in May 2006 (www.realstats.net).
