Pittsburgh Presbytery and Memorial Park reach settlement

The Pittsburgh Presbytery and Memorial Park Presbyterian Church have agreed to a $575,000 settlement that will enable the Allison Park church to keep its buildings, property and name as it is dismissed from the Presbyterian Church (USA) to join the more biblically conservative Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

The settlement is expected to be approved at the presbytery's meeting tomorrow, said the Rev. Doug Portz, actor pastor to the presbytery.

The church had filed suit in Common Pleas Court in January to facilitate the separation.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
