Is there a Hummer on your horizon?
If so, check out the Hummer stand at the auto show.
Hummer is humming along this year with some big changes in its bread-and-butter model, the H2.
The first thing you'll want to do is to hunt up the H2 because that's the one that has gotten a lot of attention this model year.
While it looks a lot like the familiar model we all know, the 2008 version is actually pretty heavily revised.
It's got a whole new interior, with a new instrument panel and finally, some real seats in the third row -- correcting one of the glaring problems I've always had with the H2.
As you might expect, the H2 comes very nicely equipped. It includes standard side curtain air bags and a stability-control system, and a brand new 6-liter, 393-horsepower V-8 with an equally new six-speed automatic transmission.
Now to the rough part: Fuel mileage. We're talking about 10 to 12 miles per gallon, and I don't even want to think how much this thing will cost you at the pump. But, hey, it's a free country, and if you can afford the freight, go for it.
H2 prices start at $56,410.
Meanwhile, the H3 gets a new high-performance model, the H3 Alpha, with a 4.3-liter, 300-horsepower V-8 that is rated at about 13 to 16 miles per gallon. With the Alpha you get a 33 percent increase in towing capacity, a sport exterior design all its own, along with a unique interior. Prices for the H3 range from $30,695 to $39,260.
