"Ugly Betty" fans waiting for new episodes, which begin April 24, can occupy their time with "Ugly Betty: The Book" ($25, Hyperion Books), due in stores today.
The book itself is a paperback done up to resemble the cover and back pages of Mode magazine, but it comes packaged inside a hard box.
Written by Ann Donahue of Billboard Magazine, the book includes the story of how "Ugly Betty" came to be adapted for American audiences, the telenovela that inspired it and fashion spreads, of course.
There are interviews with the show's creative team, including recently fired executive producers Jim Hayman and Marco Pennette, features on the cast and a tour of the show's sets. Catty quotes from scripts are strewn throughout the book (Wilhelmenia: "Poor people are so cheap."), which also contains an episode guide covering season one and the first half of season two.
