Submit your Pitt football question

Q: Who do you project will start at outside linebacker this year? I thought Shane Murray was in way over his head, I'm surprired Dorin Dickerson couldn't beat him out.

Scott Heinauer, Pittsburgh

ZEISE: I think that last year's starters, Adam Gunn and Shane Murray, will start the season but I think that both will face a lot of heat from the youngsters - Brandon Lindsey, Tristan Roberts and Greg Williams - who are going to push them all season for playing time. Those three redshirt freshmen are certainly an upgrade in speed and athleticism, but Murray and Gunn were both very productive and thus someone will have to play very well to beat them out. Williams, who is a converted running back, to me is the one that could be a superstar - he runs like the wind and he is 6-feet-3, 220 pounds.

Q: I saw the picture of Pat Bostick this morning from spring practice. It shows he still has that huge hitch - wind up in his delivery. Paul, this is a fundamental flaw in his delivery and a major reason defensive backs sit on his passes. Why hasn't our staff corrected this fundamental impediment to becoming a complete Division 1-A quarterback?

Joe Huber, Harrison City, Pa.

ZEISE: It is something they are working on - and it is a big reason I believe that unless he is far and away better than Bill Stull - he'll take a redshirt. He needs a whole year to work this thing out and relearn how to throw the football with accuracy. Pat is a smart kid and a hard worker so he will work it out. But I think it is unrealistic to think that in a few months - particularly during a period when coaches can't work on the field with players - that this hitch was going to get worked out. Give him a full year and see where he is before you throw him under the bus.

Q: How is Brandon Lindsey doing in the spring drills? I haven't heard his name mentioned as being in the mix at linebacker. Is he lost in the shuffle?

Eli Peich, Aliquippa

ZEISE: He is doing fine - like I said there are four redshirt freshman linebackers -- (Max Gruder is the other one, he is working at middle linebacker) and Lindsey is one of them - who are really stealing the show in a lot of ways. All of them have had flashes and the future at this position looks very, very bright. I'd expect Lindsey and Roberts and Williams to all get significant playing time this year and they will all push each other for the next four years.
