Submit your Pitt football question

Q: So now that Dorin Dickerson is moving to tight end, Pitt has two very athletic, and in Byham's case, very talented TE's. Do you think the staff might look to target the TE's more? Also, do you think Collins will get more involved in the offense this season?

Jim Raible, Irwin, Pa.

ZEISE: I'll say this - there is no excuse - absent the offensive line falling apart or just not being as good as we think they can be - for this offense not to be good. There are so many weapons on this offense that if they AREN'T utilized and this offense doesn't produce big numbers it can only be attributed to a lack of creativity by the offensive staff. I'm not sure there is any other way to slice it - with this receiving corps, the tight ends and the running backs on this team and the change of pace quarterback at their disposal, if this offense isn't explosive there is something very wrong.

Q: Dickerson to TE, it is his third move in as many years. He has the skills to be great here but what about Byham? How do you see these guys splitting snaps and both getting enough time to shine? And do you think that Dave Wannstedt and company have mishandled Dickerson?

Ben Crocker, Cherry Hill, N.J.

ZEISE: I think Dorin Dickerson will play the Darrell Strong role from last year - only two things - one, he is much better once he gets the ball in his hands than Strong and because of his speed, he'll be able to get down the field to catch passes more than Strong did. And Nate will continue to be the primary tight end. You'd hope he'd get more passes thrown his way this year and you'd hope he'll be more involved in the passing game, but he'll also continue to improve as a blocker. And then they also still have John Pelusi who is an excellent blocking tight end. This is an excellent group so there is no reason they shouldn't be involved in a big way.

Q: If Shady McCoy has another great year, what are the chances of him leaving early for the draft?

Ed Billington, Carrick

ZEISE: I'd say it is very likely that if LeSean McCoy has a great year you will not likely see him in a Pitt uniform again after the Panthers bowl game. And make no mistake, if McCoy has a big year, this team will no doubt be headed for a bowl game.
