The Pittsburgh Opera announced today that Stephanie Blythe is slated and expected to sing Amneris in Verdi's "Aida" at the Benedum Center tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 p.m.
Finally! If you haven't had the chance to follow the action, it's been quite a rollercoaster ride for the mezzo-soprano and for the company in general. Unfortunately, the tenor, Vladimir Kuzmenko, is still ill, with tenor Stephen O'Mara taking his place again in this, the last presentation of the production.
Here is hoping Blythe does sing and get her stage debut as Amneris in the books here in Pittsburgh! We will have a short review of her performance in the Monday paper.
