Pittsburgh is one of the test markets for a new Rolling Rock light beer, "Rock Light."
The beer, available in 12-ounce bottles and cans as well as on draught, is being sent out to area distributors and watering holes by Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Co. It's also being sold in Baltimore, Boston, New York City and the states of New Jersey and Rhode Island.
It's different from "Rock Green Light," the low-carbohydrate beer that replaced the old "Rolling Rock Light" in 2003, when Rolling Rock still was brewed in Latrobe (it's now brewed by Anheuser-Busch in Newark).
The new light brew is said to be high on flavor despite having only 106 calories per serving. It's slimmed down in one other regard: The packaging replaces Rolling Rock's fabled mysterious "33" with a cryptic "10."
