Blythe cancels for opera again
Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Look out, Rademes. As if one Amneris isn't enough trouble for the Egyptian general in Verdi's grand opera "Aida," the current Pittsburgh Opera production will now send a second his way, with a third still on the horizon. Scheduled mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe has canceled her performance tonight at the Benedum Center due to illness. She will be replaced by mezzo Jane Dutton, who recently sang the role at English National Opera. Blythe still holds out hope to sing this weekend. Her earlier cancellation, last Saturday, led to an appearance by Cabot native Marianne Cornetti.
