Gardenalia, the urban gardening shop on South Highland Avenue in Shadyside, will close its doors on April 13 so that its operators can concentrate full time on their landscaping business.
"We had a pretty good go of it for six years," said owner Betty Cantalini, "but our landscaping business has doubled in size in the last year so we decided to build on that and drop the store."
She and business partner Wyatt Melius will concentrate on landscape design, consulting, coaching and container gardening, with an emphasis on sustainable and organic methods, she said.
Most of what remains in the shop -- mainly tools and pots -- is priced at 50 percent off.
Store hours during the remaining two weeks are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
