Suspect in Ross hit-run turns himself in
Friday, March 28, 2008

Ross police have arrested a man in a hit-run accident that left a woman hospitalized and in a coma.

Ross Detective Bill Barrett said Kenneth Midgley, 49, of McCandless, came to police headquarters this morning with an attorney and turned himself in. Police had been searching for a suspect in the incident since it occurred about 1 a.m. March 16.

Police said Karen Graziano, 53, of McCandless, was walking along Babcock Boulevard when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. Ms. Graziano, an elementary teacher at Dilworth school in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood, remains in serious condition at Allegheny General Hospital.

Mr. Midgley is charged with a single count of causing an accident involving death or serious personal injury, a third-degree felony.

Mr. Midgley was arraigned today by West View District Judge Richard G. Opiela, who released him on $10,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Judge Opiela.
