Colin South

Quaker Valley

Last week: South scored three goals as Quaker Valley defeated Mars, 3-1, to win the Penguins Cup Class A hockey championship at Mellon Arena.

Check this out: South, a junior, has been on a postseason tear. He had a hat trick in each of Quaker Valley's three PIHL playoff games. The Quakers play for a state championship Saturday in Johnstown against West Chester East.

Have you ever, in your career, been through a scoring stretch like this? No, and I've been playing since I was 7. I guess it's just getting hot at the right time and playing well with my linemates.

Does anyone throw a hat on the ice for high school hat tricks? A few people. Not as many as when Sidney or Malkin gets a hat trick, but a few.

How far will the Penguins go? Stanley Cup.

You sure? No, but that's what I want.

Your most embarrassing moment in hockey? I scored into my own net last year.

If you won a million dollars, what would you buy first? A BMW 7 Series.

People might be surprised to know that you ... ? I keep a stuffed animal tiger by my bed when I sleep. I've had it since I was 1 or 2.
