Dormont bank robbed
Monday, March 24, 2008

The First Commonwealth Bank in Dormont was robbed today around noon, Dormont police said.

Police said a tall white male of medium build walked in the bank, located at 2905 West Liberty Ave., and wordlessly slipped a note to the teller in which he demanded cash and threatened to kill her and everyone in the bank if she hit the alarm. The teller complied with his demand and tripped the alarm after he left. Police would not say how much money was stolen and said they did not know if the man was actually brandishing a weapon.

Surveillance photos captured an image of the man, who was wearing a large black coat, a hat and sunglasses and had pockmarks around his chin and jaw. Police said they are unsure if the man escaped on foot or in a car. So far, they have not identified a suspect.

Police asked anyone with information to call 412-561-8900, Ext. 300. Those who prefer to leave a message should call 412-561-8900, Ext. 400.
