Meet Jonathan Roy. He's the son of NHL great Patrick Roy. He plays goaltender for the Quebec Remparts, a junior team that is owned and coached by his father.

Well it turns out the Remparts were playing their rivals last night, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. And as is usually the case with rivals, things got pretty nasty:

According to reports, Pappa Roy may have told his offspring to give that beat-down to the Chicoutimi goalkeeper.

Where ever could the younger Roy have picked something like this up? Hmmm...

-According to an EN reader, James did get smashed during last night's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton game (sort of):

"During tonight's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 3-2 victory over top-of-the-table Providence, CJ really didn't get walloped to satisfy the "smashing" thing, but if I were to grade the hardest check to him, it would be by Adam McQuaid of Providence.

Again, I don't know if that continues the "smashing" thing, but there you go."

-Unlike say... just about every old person in Pittsburgh, Maxime Talbot is Internet-friendly.

-David Brown made 36 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who edged Providence, 3-2.

-B.J. Radovich recorded two assists for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-3 loss to Cincinnati.

Atlantic Division

-Rangers forward Scott Gomez is dealing with some bruised ribs.

Northeast Division

-Darcy Tucker and Kyle Wellwood each had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs who beat the Senators 5-4 in the Battle of Ontario.

-Canadiens forward and former Penguin Alex Kovalev can fly in more ways than one.

-Habs coach Guy Carboneau thinks Kovalev deserves consideration for the Hart Trophy.

-Canadiens defenseman Mike Komisarek will miss three weeks due to a non-specified injury.

Southeast Division

-Nathan Horton scored two goals and lifted the Panthers to a 4-2 win against the Lightning. Tomas Vokoun made 35 saves and recorded his 30th win of the season. He joined Roberto Luongo as the only Panthers goaltenders to win 30 games in a season.

Central Division

-Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings who beat the Blue Jackets, 4-1. The Red Wings became the first team since the 1978 Canadiens to post three consecutive 50-win seasons.

-Rich Peverly and Alexander Radulov scored shootout goals and gave the Predators a 2-1 win against the Blackhawks. Dan Ellis made 37 saves in the win.

-Pardon us if this seems like we're turning this into a Tony Esposito blog, but more and more good stuff keeps surfacing from the ceremony the Blackhawks held for him last week:

Northwest Division

-Jarome Iginla recorded his seventh career hat trick and led the Flames to a key 5-4 defeat of the rival Wild.

-The video is kind of cruddy, but check out this short-handed goal Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf scored last night:

-Sam Gagner scored two goals for the Oilers in a crazy 7-5 win against the Avalanche.

-Here's something that occurred in Edmonton's win yesterday you don't see every day; Oilers forward Marty Reasoner scored one of us that didn't really go in the net:

-Avalanche center Joe Sakic recorded his 1,000th career assist in the loss yesterday. He became the 11th player in NHL history to reach that milestone.

-Oilers goaltender Mathieu Garon is dealing with an ankle injury.

Pacific Division

-Michal Handzus scored two goals for the Kings in a 4-2 defeat of the Stars. The Stars have lost four games in a row.

-The Ducks got two goals from Teemu Selanne and edged the Coyotes, 2-1.

-Sharks forward Jonathan Cheechoo blew up Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller face Friday night:

-With goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere dealing with a wonky back, the Ducks recalled former Penguins goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin from Portland of the AHL. Apparently Jean-Sebastien Fecteau was apparently unavailable.

Adams Division

-CBC broadcasters Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson, a former Penguin, did two games yesterday.
