Penguins: The Penguins face the New Jersey Devils for the second time in four days as the intensity surrounding the NHL Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed continues to build heading into the final two weeks of the season. It is the final meeting of the season between the two teams, who were tied as of March 21.
Did you know: The Penguins were 2-3-1 vs. New Jersey this season going into their game March 22. They haven't won a season series from the Devils since the 2000-01 season (3-1).

Pirates: Only two days until the local major-league baseball club opens its 122nd season. The Pirates play their final game of the exhibition season vs. Minnesota, then break camp and head to Atlanta to begin their quest to end 15 consecutive years of losing.
Did you know: Ian Snell will start the season-opener for the Pirates. He is the 62nd different pitcher to start a Pirates opener since 1900, a list headed by Bob Friend. He started a team-record seven openers between 1954-62.

Opening day: North America: The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals open not only the North American portion of the 2008 major-league schedule, but Washington's new stadium -- Nationals Park.
Did you know: The shrink wrap will barely be off the new yard before it plays host to what will surely go down as one of its most memorable days, whether it's open one year or 100. Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate mass there as part of his visit to the United States next month.
