ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Wyoming gave Pitt a scare today, but the Panthers found a way to survive as they defeated the Cowgirls, 63-58, in an NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Spokane Regional first round game at The Pit in Albuquerque.

The Panthers trailed late 54-53 but Mallorie Winn hit a 3-pointer to give them a 56-54 lead with 2:50 to play and the Panthers never trailed again. Pitt hit 7 of 10 free throws in the final two minutes to put the game away.

The Panthers (23-10), who are the No. 6 seed in the region, will next play No. 3 seed Baylor (25-6), Monday night in a second round game. The Lady Bears advanced by beating Fresno State, 88-67, in the first game of today's doubleheader.
