Thursday

NCAA tournament: At just past noon, two of the greatest days in sports tip off with the first games of the 2008 NCAA men's basketball tournament. How long after that will the first bracket be busted?

Did you know: Seeing as Hillary and Barack are also in the news these days, we offer this nugget for your brackets: There hasn't been a major upset (a 13 seed or lower winning a first-round game) in a presidential election year since 1996.

To watch: Noon, KDKA.

Friday

The Madness: Day 2: Not 12 hours after the last night's action ends, it picks back up with 16 more games.

Saturday

Battle at the top: The Penguins and New Jersey Devils, separated by one point atop the Eastern Conference standings, square off at Mellon Arena for the first of two games in four days.

To watch: 7:30 p.m., FSN Pittsburgh.

Sunday

Down to business: By early evening, the Cinderellas will be mostly gone. The anything's-possible field of 64 that began NCAA tournament play Thursday will be down to the Sweet 16 after eight second-round games. The real tournament is now on.
