
Scott Kunst, owner of Old House Gardens in Ann Arbor, Mich., will give a lecture, "Antique Gardens -- American Home Landscapes, 1800-1940," at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Frick Art and Historical Center, 7727 Reynolds St., Point Breeze.
Mr. Kunst will discuss early use of bulbs then focus on heirloom bulbs that can be grown today, including wild lilies and glads, Colonial daffodils, Aztec tuberoses and Victorian dahlias.

For the first time in eight years, demand was so great that we've run out of seeds for the 'Limbaugh Legacy Potato Top' tomato. It usually takes about an hour for Penn Hebron Garden Club members to fill self-addressed, stamped envelopes with seeds from the heirloom renamed for the late Fred Limbaugh. This year, they filled envelopes for four hours and ran out. If you have some 'Potato Top' seeds, please send them to the address below so we can fill the remaining orders:
The Pennsylvania Resources Council will continue a series of rain barrel workshops. Experts will discuss how to collect and use rainwater while also reducing runoff. Old Economy Village in Ambridge will host a spring garden workshop, "Gardens of Pennsylvania," on April 12. The program will showcase speakers from five historic gardens: Hershey's Rose Garden, Bartrams Garden, Longwood Gardens, Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve and Old Economy. Pittsburgh Stone and Waterscape will hold a Landscape Tour on May 3 with proceeds benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Participants will tour 10 sites in the South Hills, ending with the Pletcher home in Nevillewood, which was featured in the Post-Gazette and on HGTV.
