Pirates lose to Cincinnati, Minnesota
Friday, March 14, 2008

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pirates lost two games today, losing to Cincinnati, 5-0, at McKechnie Field and 4-1 to Minnesota in Fort Myers.

Infielder Luis Rivas accounted for the Pirates' only RBI of the day. He doubled in Nate McLouth in the game at Fort Myers.

Rain delayed the start of the game in Bradenton for 25 minutes. The game was played under overcast skies and history -- of sorts -- was made at 85-year-old McKechnie Field. It was the first baseball played under lights at the venerable yard.

"I don't know where that stands in history," said Trent Jewett, the Indianapolis manager who managed the Pirates at McKechnie today.

Freddy Sanchez, again serving as a designated hitter, had two hits in the Bradenton game.
