Pitcairn to receive $100,000 for landslide damages
Friday, March 14, 2008

State Sen. Sean Logan, D-Monroeville, and Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato have teamed up to provide $100,000 in funding to start the process of stabilizing a landslide that threatens several Pitcairn homes.

The funds will be used to demolish a home and remove unstable trees from the hillside because Pitcairn would have difficulty paying for the repairs.

Pitcairn council President Jack Bova said the assistance will allow local government to concentrate on aiding displaced families and securing the landslide as soon as possible.

The home at 552 Wood St. is scheduled for demolition today.

Mr. Bova said displaced Wood Street families were staying with neighbors and relatives.
